Since U-96 isn’t racing this weekend, but the U-9 is substituting for the 96, how does the points work?

Great question. As far as we understand the U-9 is running as the U-9 and will collect points as the U-9. It is however carrying the Qatar 96 banner in name only. Points will count toward the U-9 unless the boat is actually renumbered the U-96 for the race. I am going to double check with H-1 regarding this topic. Thanks you.

So the hull number supercedes the name?

Yes, we score just as H1 does on their official scoring which is always based on registered U-number. If the boat is registered to run as the U-9 then it will collect points as such. I have a question into both H1 and The U-9 team to seek clarification.

H1 clarified that the U-9 will be collecting points as the U-9 and is not being renumbered as the 96.
