Ranking the 2015 Fleet -- The Also Rans

HydroDan's Deck2Deck Racing Inc.

No. 10) U-100 – Leland Racing
Driver: Kevin Eacrat – Snohomish, WA
Home Port: Kirkland, WA
The aging U-100 (9899) hull will be driven by rookie driver Kevin Eacrat. Unfortunately the fan favorite and once very successful Leland Unlimited Team is a shadow of its former glory. The 100 just does not have enough beans to race with most of the other boats in the fleet. However, Fred can only be looking down with a smile as his name still graces an Unlimited Hydroplane three long years after his passing.
HydroDan says: The Leland camp is short on speed and equipment and will need some major breaks to qualify for a final heat this season.

No. 11) U-12 – Centurion Racing
Driver: Patrick Sankuer – Detroit, Mi
Home Port: Burien, WA
In 2014 the Centurion Racing Team campaigned the Leland-built (9399.9) hull and will return to H1 action in 2015 with the same sled. Although sporting the livery of one heck of a football team from Seattle, the 12 did not experience much success officially qualifying at only two of six races with their top finish being a 7th place in Madison. This hull is dated, aging, heavy, and unforgiving and has a rookie shoe at the controls. Rookie Patrick Sankuer will need to become qualified and learn the nuances of the unlimiteds in one of the more unforgiving boats on the circuit.
HydroDan says:
A heavy hull and a rookie driver. Might be another long year for the 12 entry.

No. 12) U-18 – Bucket List Racing
Driver: Kelly Stocklin
Home Port: Snohomish, WA
Kelly Stocklin returns in his familiar role as “David” with his undersized and underpowered U-18 (1218) hull that packs a T-53 turbine engine package which produces only about half the horse power of the T-55 turbine “Goliaths” employ. The BLR Team is prepared to run full circuit for the first time in 2015. In three races last season their best finish was a respectable 6th place in San Diego.
HydroDan says: The undersized and underpowered boat lacks the speed necessary to compete with the rest of the fleet but you gotta love people trying new things and having fun doing what they love!
