No. 5) U-7 – Graham Trucking II / Porter Racing
Driver: Jesse Robertson – Seattle, WA
Home Port: Decatur, IN
In 2014 Precision Performance second entry finished a very respectable third place in National Points with Cal Phipps at the wheel. The ex-Bud Beer Wagon (6901) captured a second and two third place podium finishes on the year. Cal Phips has since jumped ship to the new U-27 Team and has been replaced by Jesse Robertson who is previously qualified and has accounted well for himself in his limited action in the unlimited ranks. In Robertsons first unlimited race he managed a 4th place finish at CDA in 2013 in Mark Evans U-57. The team and driver also took part in spring testing in Tri-Cities, WA which should be of great benefit for the new combination.
HydroDan says: The boat is a proven winner. Big step up in class for this young driver. Can the new driver stay clean and score points? We think so.
No. 6) U-11 – Peters & May
Driver: Tom Thompson – Cambridge, MD
Home Port: Edmonds, WA
Veteran owner and team manager Scott Raney has again spent an offseason fine tuning the ex-Bud T-4 (9401) hull in an attempt to improve boat performance and gain speed and reliability. The hard working Unlimited Racing Group was only able to manage a seventh place finish in National Points in 2014 after not scoring in Detroit due to mechanical gremlins. Driver Tom Thompson has piloted the U-11 since the end of the of the 2012 season but has yet to taste much success. Thompson jumped the gun in 2 of 4 final heat appearances in 2014. If the U-11 can stay clean and avoid mechanical issues they should be able to climb the points ladder in 2015.
HydroDan says: Improved performance is expected. Should make most final heats in 2015.
