As the H1 fleet heads east, anticipation is high for the 2022 kickoff event, as it will be no ordinary opener. The first stop on the circuit will be for the glory of the Gold Cup, and the first ever running of the Gold Cup on Lake Guntersville. The fleet should be well prepared with the U-1, U-8, U-9, U-11, U-40, and U-91 all having tested in the preseason. Also notable will be the addition of the U-3 which typically only runs once a season in Tri-Cities. The Guntersville lineup at time of post is announced as: U-1 Miss HomeStreet Bank (Shane) HydroDan’s Three Two Think About: The Favorite: Miss HomeStreet Bank. After laying down extremely impressive laps in the Tri-Cities test session, it is hard to choose against Jimmy Shane. Shane won the Gold Cup last season in Madison and is looking to add a sixth Cup to his trophy case. The Thunder: This will be the first race for the Go3 Team outside of Tri-Cities since 2018. The first race of the season might be an ideal place to choose the 3 as the equipment is fresh and the fast, yet short, course may be conducive to this team’s equipment and approach. The DNC: You are familiar with acronyms DNS (Did not start) and DNF (Did not finish) in the sport. Let us introduce you to the term DNC which stands for Do Not Choose. The boats that will not be running in Guntersville include the U12, U21, and U440. The 12 and 21 will only be running out west, while the 440 will not be running at all in 2022 and is removed from the Deck2Deck menu of boats. No word from the U7 and U27 teams. They are not currently listed in the boat selector tool. Posted on: Jun 21 2022 05:11 PM UTC |
